19:11 He said, "My Lord! Appoint for me a sign." He said, "Thy sign shall be that thou shalt not speak with men for three nights, while thou art sound."

The context is that Zachariah pbuh was miraculously given a child even though his wife was old and so was he. The silence was an indicator that they would indeed have a baby named John. ❀️

Mary pbuh was also instructed to take a fast of silence after the birth of Jesus pbuh. ❀️

David pbuh as he repented (38:21)

Sufis believe that silence is the only true way to experience God. Words have limitations but the language of the heart does not. ❀️

In times of crisis it's important that some people -

πŸ–€ Some people scream and shout.

🀍 Some people educate.

πŸ’š Some people cry and plead.

❀️ Some people march and lead.

πŸ–€ Some people incite hate and anger.

🀍 Some people call to truth.

πŸ’š Some people spin some lies.

❀️ Some people go within and turn to God.

πŸ”ΊAll are calling for peace. All are calling for peace. All are calling for peace.

In their own way all are valid, and all are necessary for the narrative to play out. It is not a time to condemn your peers coping style. They're probably just finding the best way they know how to survive through this. We must learn to 'cover' others especially when we have actual real issues to deal with. May we all be granted strength and patience. πŸ™πŸΌπŸ€²πŸΌ

What we do know is that when great miracles occur Prophets are called to silence. Not silence from prayer, just from people and the day to day. 3 nights - from maghrib on Friday to maghrib on Sunday and all 3 went to a private chamber to be with God.

Can we do that? Sure we can. 😊

How do we do that? Just as they did.

We find time to turn to God in silence and in private. The rest is up to you, trust yourself to know.

Silence gives the impression that there is a compression. That there is stifling if what needs to be said, the portal between one person to another is closed. However, if we look at it from an Islamic perspective silence can open up a different portal, one that connects us with God. A channel that feeds, nourishes and nurtures what the spirit needs. ❀️

What if we can't do 3 days? Can we do Zohar to Asar? Or Asar to Maghrib? What if we don't have privacy? Can we draw some boundaries? Can we go to a mosque? What if I don't have any time? Can we do 30-45mins after Salaah? Can we connect with God and delay sending that email or cooking that meal?

What do we pray? Salaah, Quran, Hadith, Tasbih. What do I ask for? Ask for peace. And ask for the strength to help create that peace.
