This is the second edition of ‘Be Melting Snow’, Aamna Khokhar’s inaugural book on renewing our belief in ourselves, and re-adopting our natural, vulnerable state, to better ourselves and enrich our lives.
The content is rooted in Aamna’s practice, and inspired by her faith.
The title of the book is based on an excerpt from a poem by Jalal Uddin Rumi. In his poem, Rumi states, ‘Be melting snow. Wash yourself, of yourself.’ This wonderful, striking imagery, is a common thread throughout the entire book. Each chapter looks at a specific area of life, and gently guides the reader, through a combination of psychology, Islamic texts, and modern examples, to open up our hearts to the possibility of change and renewal. Just as the great Anatolian poet sought to give encouragement, and heal the brokenhearted, ‘Be Melting Snow’, aims to help readers create opportunities to overcome certain behavioural patterns, and thought processes.
The eleven chapters cover topics as varied as forgiveness and letting go, through to new beginnings and finding a life partner. We hope you enjoy reading the book, as well as reflecting on Aamna’s painting that accompanies most of the chapters.
